The 25' high Big Milk Can is made of sheet metal and created in the 1930s in Chicopee, MA. The equally high Milk Bottle was made on site in Granby, MA. They were originally produced to attract customers to the former Dufresne's Dairy Bar, located on the Dufresne family farm which owned a herd of dairy cows. The establishment was a popular truck stop, restaurant and diner.
In 1963, the building was moved across the street to the present location. Over the years, the business changed ownership and its name - Marion & Ken's, the Maple Brook Restaurant, and Manny's Place. It has been the Earlee Mug since 2010. The milk can is used as a dining area and the bottle is used as a storage building.
The establishment is an interesting example of roadside architecture from the 1930's. It has been there so long that it barely draws the notice of locals but it's worth a look if your are driving along Route 202. It is located on the north and west side of the road at 337 E. State St., Granby, MA
