This is a reconstructed Roman Limes Palisade. It is located east of Gunzenhausen, Germany, Bayern, in a forest on the Vorederer Schlossbuck.

At 160 A.D. the erected Limes Palisade ran straight across the plateau of the Castle Bucks. The Romans brought a 1.2 meter deep and 60 cm wide ditch in the rocky ground, put into the piles and wedged them with stones.

Preserved remains show that the stockade consisted mostly of split oak trunks, which were set so that the flat side facing out. The stable anchorage in the soil can be to a height of at least 2.5 meters - probably even more than 3 meters - close. To stabilize the internal timbers were joined by several wooden cross bar.

This is a reconstruction of the Limes Palisade, which has been faithfully recreated on a length of about 50 meters.
