Pid Zamok (Beneath The Castle) Park (Uzhgorod)
Once a much larger park along the banks of the Uzh River, today it has been reduced to a mere 2.5 hectares. The park has a running trail along its border with remnants of an old forest of elms, ashes, limes, hornbeams, poplars and sycamore trees (of which one is 500 years old). A football field and tennis courts are situated where Spartak Stadium, built in 1901, used to be. The city public pool, which has been closed for at least the last five years, is also situated alongside the park.
