Long Description:
On January 16th, 1969, Czech student Jan Palach burned himself to death in a protest against Soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia and as a memento against the resignation of Czechoslovak society. Shortly after that, hikers built a small cairn at Vysoky Vrch hill in his memory.

There was no sign, but the dedication of the cairn was a well known secret, and it became a tradition: "if you are hiking up Vysoky Vrch, you should bring a stone from the downhill". The cairn was damaged several times and there were rumors about communist police agents tooking it apart.

Today there is a plain wooden cross with a photograph of Jan Palach, and the nearby sign about history of Vysoky Vrch mentions that the cairn was founded on January 19th, 1969 - I didn't find any sources online which would confirm that.
