O Pastor Peregrino is a work by the Portuguese artist Pedro Anjos Teixeira.

The sculpture depicts a shepperd with two sheeps. One by it´s side and another (small) one is his hand.
On his inscription we can read «Figura Pastoril que nos Romances bucólicos de Rodrigues Lobo representa o proprio Poeta». (Shepperd figure that in Rodrigues Lobo (Rodrigues lobo was a Portuguese poet and writer from the 16th and 17th centuries) novels represents the poet himself).

The statue is a stone sculpture with 2.2 meters tallmade by Pedro Anjos Teixeira in 1959. It was an offer by Eng. Arantes de Oliveira (Minister of Public Works) to the city in 1959 and it´s placed in the corner of Camões garden.

Pedro Augusto Franco dos Anjos Teixeira was a Portuguese sculptor. He was born in Paris in 1908 but moved to Portugal at the age of 6. He studied in Lisbon´s University and was a drawing and modelling teatcher. He was persecuted by the secret police during the dictatorship regime so he moved to Funchal, Madeira where he was a teacher, sculptor, musician, journalist among others.
He died in Sintra in 1997 leaving more than 900 works.
