The building at 5508 Locust was built in the late 19th century to serve as a blacksmith shop. The building had a one story brick addition circa 1930. The building was converted to a gas station and service garage when the need to blacksmiths declined. The building previously had a sign reading "Goodyear Augusta Garage" now only the "Goodyear" portion remains. The building is now used as a glass blower's shop and studio.
