A group of three figures in bronze on a square plinth situated in the garden in front of Barnsley National Union Of Mineworkers (NUM) building. A woman dressed in a frock, wearing a shawl over her head and shoulders, barefoot and holding a baby wrapped in a shawl. To the right is the figure of a male miner wearing a helmet with headlight, dressed in vest, with trousers and padded knee protectors, and boots. He has his left hand on the shoulder of the figure of a small girl just in front and to the side. She is wearing a skirt and top, bare headed, hair tied either side and fringe, and wearing short boots.
Inscription on the face of the plinth reads-
"IN MEMORY OF THOSE WHO HAVE LOST THEIR LIVES
IN SUPPORTING THEIR UNION IN TIMES OF STRUGGLE"
Inscription on the right side face reads-
"This monument was unveiled on Wednesday 28th July 1993 by
ARTHUR SCARGILL

Inscription on rear face of plinth reads-
