The memorial is in the form of a stone tablet on a granite mount. Above the tablet is the badge of the Herts Imperial Yeomanry within a laurel wreath, whilst below is a bugle, helmet and sword.

The inscription reads

HERTS IMPERIAL YEOMANRY

IN MEMORY

OF

THE FOLLOWING OFFICER NON-COMMISSIONED

OFFICERS AND MEN OF THE 42ND HERTS

SQUADRON OF THE IMPERIAL YEOMANRY WHO

LOST THEIR LIVES IN SOUTH AFRICA

IN THE SERVICE OF THEIR SOVEREIGN

AND COUNTRY DURING THE YEARS 1900 AND 1901

 

THIS TABLET IS ERECTED BY

THEIR COMRADES OF THE REGIMENT
