In the inscription one can read that this is the house were the Captains reunited to discuss the Political program to be presented to Portuguese people in 1974.

February 5, 1974 - Meeting of the Coordinating Committee of the Movement in the house of Colonel Marcelino Marques, in Olivais, attended by 26 officers, including the majors Otelo Saraiva de Carvalho, Vitor Alves and Ernesto Melo Antunes, captains Vasco Lourenço, Rodrigo de Sousa e Castro and Fernando Homero Figueira, lieutenant colonels Amadeu Garcia dos Santos and Manuel da Costa Brás for consideration of the draft program prepared by major Jose Maria de Azevedo.

Carnation Revolution refers to a period in the history of Portugal as a result of a military takeover, took place on April 25, 1974, which overthrew the dictatorial regime of the Estado Novo, in force since 1933 and began a process that would end with the establishment of a democratic regime, with the entry into force of the new Constitution on April 25, 1976.
This coup, commonly known by the Portuguese as April 25, was conducted by a military movement, the Armed Forces Movement (MFA), composed of intermediate officers of the military, mostly captains who had participated in the Colonial War and were supported by militia officers, recruited students, many of them university students. This movement was born around 1973, initially based on claims corporatist as the fight for the prestige of the armed forces, and eventually extend to the current political regime. Without military support, and adherence to the mass of the population coup, the resistance of the system was practically nonexistent, there have been only four deaths in Lisbon by the bullets of the PIDE.
