Pride Park is the name of the football stadium where Derby football club play. This station exit is the nearest one to the football ground and allows access without having to go through the city centre.
There are 2 SUSTRANS national cycle routes that cross at this point. In the UK an organisation called SUSTRANS promotes sustainable transport especially by the use of cycles. They have helped to design a national network of national cycle routes, and work with local councils to provide cycle lanes and signs.
The map shows the area in 2 levels of detail. Both the maps show your location near to the rail station. The most detailed map shows the immediate area around the station and the names of the local roads.
The other map is on a large scale and shows the area around Derby including nearby towns.
National Route 6 of the National Cycle Network will connect London and Keswick in Cumbria when complete. The route will pass through Watford, Luton, Milton Keynes, Northampton, Market Harborough, Leicester, Derby, Nottingham, Worksop, Sheffield, Manchester, Blackburn, Preston, Lancaster, Kendal and Windermere.
National Route 54 of the National Cycle Network will run from Stourport to Derby via Kidderminster, Dudley, and Lichfield. The route also includes the White Peak Loop from Derby to Cromford, Biggin, Uttoexeter and back to Derby with links to National Route 68.
The cycle routes have been diverted to go near to the station to avoid the city centre, but also to encourage train passengers to cycle to the station.
The map is next to some innovative covered vertical cycling racks. The racks themselves are made from recycled materials so are themselves a green product. (
