"An historic church with a vibrant future - Salem was founded in 1873 when Rochester was brimming with new life and possibility. Our beautiful sanctuary is enhanced with glorious stained glass windows depicting the stories of the Bible. We worship each Sunday morning at 10:00 am. Our services are lively; we worship the God who continually breaks into human life with joyful surprises!
" Taking the Bible seriously, not literally - We understand our faith as a treasure handed down from those who have gone before. But we also understand that the best of our tradition is God's barrier-breaking action among us in the present and future. "Behold, I am doing a new thing," Isaiah tells us of God's intention for people. Each week, our pastors preach a sermon which is Biblically based, sensitive to the original context of the scripture lesson and relevant to life and faith today.
" Nutrition Center - Called to serve Christ in the city, each Monday and Tuesday noon, Salem provides a meal for Rochester's neediest citizens. Our volunteers come from churches throughout the region to help. Bible study is offered on Mondays at 11:00 am for all who are interested.
" Spiritus Christi Church - Salem enjoys a partnership relationship with the Spiritus Christi Church, a radical Catholic church which ordains women, and has a radically inclusive ministry. They share our building and our commitment to serve the people of this city." (
