Wryly known as the "Hopeless Jones", this organ was installed in 1908, and the Murray Memorial Chimes, 25 chimes playable from the keyboard, were added when the organ underwent a restoration in 1937.
Mark Twain was a member of the Board of Directors of the Hope-Jones Organ Company, and during the week-long dedication of the organ in October 1908, he came to Rochester to hear "a demonstration of the organ used to accompany a singer which at that time was generally considered to be an unsuitable use of an organ."
