This rock and wood cairn is located in the extreme northeast corner of California. Access is from the north, from the Adel to Fort Bidwell Road, take BLM Road south to Twelvemile Creek, ford the creek and climb the canyon wall to cairn. This cairn was established in 1872 by A.W. Von Schmidt who was hired to establish the corner of California, Nevada, and Oregon at N 42° W 120°. The cairn is built of local basalt and juniper.
