The Other Depot - Guthrie, OK - Train Stations/Depots on Waymarking.com

When someone speaks of the Guthrie depot, most likely they are referring to the Santa Fe Depot west of town, built in 1903, which once contained a Harvey House Restaurant and is said to be haunted.

But, there is another depot, less remarkable, but nevertheless part of the history of Guthrie. Located on the northeast corner of Perkins and Division Street (Hwy 77), this one-story brick depot belonged to Rock Island's Choctaw, Oklahoma and Western line which ran from Guthrie to Chandler. The depot was also used by Oklahoma Railway as a freight depot.

This depot runs north-south on the east side of the highway, with the tracks on the east side of the depot. There are four arched overhead freight doors on the west side, with a set of stairs and small platform constructed of railroad ties. The gabled roof has composition shingles, and several former windows have been bricked in. The depot is vacant with a few items in storage, and is for sale at this time.

A ghost sign on the north wall has the name of a Wholesale Co. which once occupied the building.
