The large stone forms part of a garden at the side of the road and the plaque records the fact that the road called Senior Way has been named after him.

Strangely the plaque is on the side of Manchester Road (A641) one of the main roads out of Bradford in a south westerly direction.

Senior Way runs at right angles to Manchester Road, but I think the plaque is here because this is the busier road with more people passing by.

The text on the plaque is as follows.
SENIOR WAY
THIS ROAD IS NAMED IN HONOUR OF
JOHN STUART SENIOR
IN RECOGNITION OF HIS 38 YEARS OF
CONTINUOUS SERVICE TO THE CITY OF BRADFORD
COUNCILLOR 1954 - 1992
LORD MAYOR 1979 - 1980
