The quotes are displayed on the left wall when entering form the main entrance overlooking Arch Street. There are two separate quotes displayed. They are:
One country, one Constitution, one destiny - Daniel Webster, 1837
The people themselves must be the ultimate makers of their own Constitution - Theodore Roosevelt, 1912
Naturally both quotes are Constitution centric. Daniel Webster (January 18, 1782 – October 24, 1852) was a leading American statesman and senator from Massachusetts during the period leading up to the Civil War. Webster took part in several key U.S. Supreme Court cases which established important constitutional precedents that bolstered the authority of the federal government. SOURCE. I suppose because of his legal connection to the constitution, that is why his quote was found to be most appropriate to be displayed.
