This mark on the northern-most gate post leading to the steps to the churchyard of St Peter & St Paul's Church shows the flood level of the 20th March, 1947. It is some 460m from the nearest point of the River Severn but the height of the river on this day is not known, except to say that this point is some 2m higher than the bank of the Severn at the end of High St., the northern extension of Old St., and the river banks at this point are some 3m high.
