45th Parallel - I-91 near Derby Line VT - Great Lines of Earth on Waymarking.com

The 45th Parallel would be the border between Quebec’s Eastern Townships and the United States but an error in a 1772 survey by John Collins created a zigzag line that put the surveyed line here almost a half a mile north of 45°. In 1842, after years of bickering, that zigzag surveyed line was agreed upon when the United States and Great Britain signed the Webster-Ashburton Treaty. (visit link)

This sign is on a curve on the interstate, so if you want to take a picture here, be prepared and have your passenger snap the photo on-the-fly. Stopping in NOT recommended.
