The Historic "D" Street Bridge in Petaluma, California is a bridge with a pivoting section that is raised and lowered using counterweights, known as a bascule bridge. It was first built in 1933 over the Petaluma River. It was rehabilitated in 1953 and again in 2009. A minimum of four hours notice is required to make arrangements for the bridge to open.
