Theater an der Winkelwiese was founded in 1964 by Maria von Ostfelden. It is located in the basement floor of Villa Tobler, a mansion built in 1853 by Gustav Albert Wegmann.
It is a very small theater but it gained international recognition and won many international theater awards over the years. A lot of contemporary plays had their Swiss debut here.
