In Boston's Back Bay section, there is a mural on Newbury Street, titled "Tramont."

The mural is located on the southeast side of Newbury Street, just beyond a multi-story building partially occupied by a Best Buy store. An article found stated that the mural is now 30 years old. The composition is in fair condition - there are stickers and grafitti on it. There are three main portions to the mural. A key is mounted on the left edge of the mural. Unfortunately, the protective plexiglass covering the key is turning opaque and has been vandalized. So, I will have to just describe what I see, plus what I gathered from one small article.

Each scene in each portion is a surreal composition. They are all tied together by the appearance of rail wheels within the compositions. The one on the left looks like windows or doors within windows/doors. Portions of shapes and objects appear in the openings. The middle portion is also a door within a door, only the inner door is an actual door. Within this composition are the words, "Tramon Timespace." The one on the right is more surrealist, but there are windows with figures in them. The article that I had read mentioned that Ralph Waldo Emerson and Dorothea Dix are two of the figures.

Come see the details for yourself!
