Along with several other pieces of artillery, this gun lines the exterior of the Waterloo Barracks. There are a few identical guns next to this one.
The plaque reads:
"Dutch Bronze 6 pdr. Field Gun
Cast by L.E. Maritz at the Hague,
then under French control, in
1813, for Napoleon I whose monogram
is on the barrel. The gun bears the
name 'L 'Etonnant'. It stands on a
later carriage of contemporary
Gribeauval design. Part of a battery
captured from Napoleon at the
Battle of Waterloo in 1815 by the
Duke of Wellington."
