In Boston's Back Bay section, there is a building that was originally a combined fire and police station. While the right side is still a fire station, the left side that once was police station is now both the Boston Architectural College and a restaurant.
The building actually has three parts. The left two were the police station. The center portion is made of a dark stone that is similar to the fire station. The left portion is has a white stone facade with brick, and is more square, and still has the inscription, "Police Department - Division Sixteen."
A plaque toward the intersection of Boylston and Hereford Street explains that this building, built in 1887, was the first combined fire and police station in the city. According to another web site, the police remained at this location until 1976, when the police department reorganized the stations. After the departure, the building was occupied by the Institute for Contemporary Art (ICA) until 2007, when it was bought by the Boston Architectural College. The left portion is now occupied by Dillon's Restaurant and Bar.
