Riverside Country Park covers 100 hectares alongside the Medway Estuary. Located on the River Medway between Gillingham and Rainham it is a good place to spend the day, with everything for the whole family.
The park boasts several waymarked walks, or you can wander along the river. The paths are mostly in very good condition and are wheel chair friendly.
Bring a picnic, there are plenty of benches scattered around, or sit near the river. Popular all year, in summer with families, and winter locals walking and the area is also dog friendly.
The mud flats and salt marshes are perfect for birds, and wintering birds are a common feature on the mudflats. Part of the park is also managed by the RSPB (Royal Society of Protection for Birds). Bring your binoculars, you will definitely see something. If you are lucky you will also see a grey seal in the water
A small visitor centre is located beside the free car park, where in summer buses also run. There is also a cafe there for refreshment and food. Behind the cafe is a new children's play area, which also caters for disabled children.
The waypoint listed is for the vehicular park entrance which is open from morning until dusk.
