The Infantry Statue was in part modelled by Victoria Cross hero, Johnson Beharry. Private Beharry, 26, who won his VC after saving the lives of more than 30 comrades in Iraq.
The Plaque near the Statue reads :-

- All battles and all Wars are won in the end by the infantryman.-
There is some controversy over the pose the sculpture makes, as he is only using one finger to point, whereas they teach the 'Brecon point' or the 'Brecon Hand' in the battle training school, using four fingers.
The aim of the Infantry Battle School in Wales, is to deliver trained officers and soldiers in order to meet the operational requirements of the Infantry, the Army and wider national Defence.
