This approximately 24 by 35 feet gazebo has been placed at this location because of the great views it affords of the confluence of the Ottawa and Gatineau Rivers, the Gatineau Hills, the City of Gatineau, Quebec and the Outaouais Region. The Gazebo protects visitors from the elements and confines them within a safe area given that the gazebo is located on top of a cliff.
"The stone gazebo was built in 1924 as part of overall improvements to the Rockcliffe Park area undertaken by the predecessor to the National Capital Commission. It was used as a stopping point; there was a ferry to the Gatineau side of the river, and a streetcar used to run by the gazebo."
