Chief of the Sweetgrass Cree, renowned with his people as a warrior and conjurer, he held back but could not refrain his people from incidents along the Saskatchewan. The Battle of Cutknife could of been a blood bath for government troops if it were not for Poundmaker restraining his followers from retaliation. For his part he was sentenced to three years but released after one. He died after a visit with Chief Crowfoot who had long regarded him as a son.
