Tristan de Salazar, devenu archevêque de Sens en 1475, construisit ce palais de style flamboyant. Les travaux durèrent jusqu'en 1519.
Paris ne devient archevêché qu’en 1622. Diverses entreprises l'occupèrent ensuite.
La ville de Paris rachète l'hôtel de Sens en 1911, le fait restaurer pour y installer la bibliothèque Forney.
Cette bibliothèque est consacrée aux beaux-arts, aux arts décoratifs et à l’artisanat et aux techniques.

Tristan de Salazar, become an archbishop of Sens in 1475, built this palace of blazing style. The works lasted until 1519.
Paris becomes archbishopric only in 1622. Diverse companies occupied it then.
The city of Paris acquires the hotel of Sens in 1911, makes it restore to install the library Forney there.
This library is dedicated to the fine arts, to the decorative arts and to the craft and to the techniques.
