Sete Rios (Seven Rivers) is a work of the Portuguese artist José Aurélio.
In the center of the world, was born a tree. Seven Rivers (Sete rios) rose dripping in its branches to summon the name of the place. And his splinter of steel rose over the noise of the city skyline while crossing the city at the epicenter of a knot of streets and bridges on the road, cutting orthogonally the plan of the train lines in constant flight. Metaphorical Axis or symbolic mechanism of that cosmos as an antenna that propagates the imagery aura of the artistic object.
Synthesis of the Profile of an obelisk, the work seems to trigger a perpetual motion of bidirectional forces that radiate from the sky and the sun to bathe the territory around and project from the land as earth and water energies scatering them in the heights. (Adapted from Lisboa Patrimonio Cultural)

José Aurélio has a degree in Sculpture by the School of Fine Arts of Lisbon Nniversity (now FBAUL). he participates in group exhibitions since 1958, held forty solo exhibitions and is the author of several public works. He Works with materials such as stone, wood and bronze, according to a minimalist aesthetic and geometric tend. Lives and works in Alcobaça, Portugal. (From Wikipedia)

This sculpture seems kind of lost in the place where it is. It can easily be confused with an electricity pole and the nearby station draws the attention from it and most drivers passing by doesn´t even notice it. When you realise it´s there you have to stop and have a closer look.
