Situated between the magnificent Mafra National Palace and the Mafra Tapada, the Jardim do Cerco was created by king D. João the 5th in 1718.

This garden has two different parts: the Botanical Garden, with a pond, and the Woods, with, in the old days, hunting purposes.
He has free admission in is space, which was used by kings and princes, a perfect garden for the great work of art that the Mafra National Palace is.
Nowadays the Palace belongs to the Municipal Borough of Mafra and is opened to all.
In the Garden it is also possible to use the Children’s park and a Snack park.
