Construit par l’architecte Anatole de Baudot, le lycée Lakanal a été inauguré en 1885 et inscrit aux monuments historiques en 2001.
L'ensemble des bâtiments en peigne permettait aux petits, moyens et grands élèves d'avoir sa propre cour de récréation, son préau couvert, ses salles de classe et d’études et ses dortoirs.
Baudot conçut des bâtiments en simple épaisseur qu’il perça d’une multitude de fenêtres. Pour les façades, il utilisa différentes natures de briques, pierres et métal.
Le lycée porte le nom de Joseph LAKANAL : homme politique de la IIIème république, il attacha son nom à de nombreuses mesures relatives à l’instruction publique.
Trois niveaux d’enseignement cohabitent au sein du lycée Lakanal : le collège, le second cycle et les classes préparatoires aux grandes écoles.
Le lycée, héritier d’une grande tradition littéraire, occupe régulièrement le haut des classements nationaux.

All the buildings in comb allowed the young, medium and great pupils to have its own school playground, its covered court, its rooms of class and studies and its dormitories.
Baudot conceived buildings in simple thickness which he drilled of a multitude of windows. For facades, he used various natures of bricks, stones and metal.
The high school has Joseph LAKANAL's name : politician of the IIIth republic, he attached his name to numerous measures relative to the state education.
Three levels of teaching live within the high school Lakanal : the middle school, the second cycle and the preparatory classes for entrance to Higher education or Engineering schools.
The high school, the heir of a big literary tradition, occupies regularly the top of the national classifications.
