Perhaps not the most auspiciously sounding name for a train station, but this station serves the rail needs of the main port for the Kingdom of Thailand, Laem Chabang. This port is found 70 or so kilometres to the south east of Bangkok, on the Bay of Bangkok.
The train station is located on the northern side of the port area. It is a surprisingly small station, however, there are a half dozen or so small restaurants and shops outside the main entrance suggesting that from time to time there is some measure of traffic. One difference from every other station I have seen is that there is a small dormitory in the station building (not in gallery, staff were sleeping inside).
As I understand it the Thai government is committed to a major rail infrastructure investment for the eastern line, of which Laem Chabang is a part. Indicative of this plan outside the station were lots of new train track rails, and I mean a lot (November 2011, pic in gallery).
This station is a spur from the Chacheongsao to Sattahip line, which is part of the eastern line.
