Geographic nomenclature can be confusing in this area. The river gauge is located in Suffield, CT near the parking are for the Windsor Locks Trail State Park. Thompsonville is a section of Enfield directly across the river.
The gauging station is electrically operated and transmits data about the height and flow rates in the Connecticut River via radio. The station operated in cooperation with the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection.
