This building used to be the movie theatre for Straford until the Stratford Festival acquired it in the 1960's. They then turned it into a dedicated second stage. In the 1990's the Festival created a second stage within the building, the Studio Theatre, that is a training stage for younger members of the company. The main Avon stage is a traditional theatre.
