This 1881 bronze sculpture is located near the Agam Fountain in La Defense business district. It depicts two young figures..one a woman standing resolutely (presumably representing victory)...next to a flag and wearing a long winter coat. The other figure, a male soldier, is slumped...apparently wounded at the woman's feet holding (but not aiming) a rifle. A cannon is set behind the figures. The work commemorates the Parisian resistance during the Franco-Prussian War.
