A cut mark, but oddly inverted on the base of a canal bridge. The road above is Hoole Lane.
This is the first I've seen the is upside down, I can only assume it is because of the position or height of it was restrictive for the instrument used so they put it upside down.
It is in reasonable condition considering it must have sat near the water for at least 80 years.
