The Strand Theater in the Enfield area of Thompsonville, opened in 1937. It has been closed since the late-1970’s. There is an organization called "Save Our Strand" that tried to renovate this classic theater. It seems to have suffered the fate of downtown theaters all over America. A mural on the front of the theater is a reminder of the glory days of such theaters. It depicts moviegoers at the box office and inside the theater. Above the marquee are a series of painted movie posters from classic films.
