This historic covered bridge was built in 1945 and was originally known as the Whiskey Butte Bridge but was later renamed for a long time area resident, Gordon Short. It is the only surviving covered bridge of many covered bridges which crossed the South Fork of the Santiam River. The bridge is located on High Deck Road just off U.S. Hwy. 20. The bridge is a 105 foot long, open sided covered bridge built on a Howe truss.
