Four miles west of Anadarko on Highway 281/62 on the north side of the road is a wood sign painted "WARE'S CEMETERY KCA TRIBAL BURIAL GROUND." Wrought iron fencing borders the highway, with a tan-colored brick entrance.
The area has a dirt and gravel drive which forms an elongated loop through the cemetery. There are 167 burials here. Due to a significant drought and excessive heat in this summer of 2011, the area was quite barren, with the grass struggling to survive. We did notice a rather unusual thing, and we do not know the significance of it. There were quite a few gravesites that had raw, mounded dirt as if they were fresh graves; however, the dates of death were several years in the past. It is possible these internments have recently been moved to this location.
