This bronze sculpture stands upright on top of a concrete platform, surrounded by smooth river rocks, in the centre of the wide sidewalk. When you first see this sculpture, from a distance, you might first think of a raised fist, but as you get closer you will realize that it looks more like one of those wooden puzzles, with the interconnecting pieces, joined together by hardware hinges.

In the centre of the dreamchamber is a rounded form which is attached, by a hinge, to one of the rounded outer walls which partially encompasses it. That outer wall is itself attached, by another hinge to the outer piece which forms the rounded back of the sculpture, and that back piece is attached, by a hinge, to a piece which forms the top of the sculpture, which is, of course, hinged to the rounded outer section of the sculpture which embraces the centre sphere. Each of the pieces which form the outer walls of the upper part of this sculpture are thick and look as if they have been cut through, leaving the exposed portions rough, while the outer surfaces of all of the hinged pieces and the centre sphere are smooth. It almost resembles an avocado that has been roughly bisected, leaving the large pit still in the centre.

The upper part of the sculpture, with the centre sphere and the encompassing hinged walls, sits on a thick, square post about one third the height of the top section which rests upon a square bronze block that sits on the concrete platform. Overall the sculpure is mottled green-brown colour with patches of light green and rust. You must walk around the entire sculpture to see how all of the pieces are joined together to make the whole. Are the dreams manufactured in this chamber or are they stored here for safe-keeping?

You will find this sculpture on the sidewalk on the east side of Huntley Street, just south of Bloor Street East.
