The Ironwood Theater, now known as the Historic Ironwood Theater, was built in 1928. Costs to build it were $160,000, which is 2 million dollars in todays value.
The theater originally showed first run movies (silent) and vaudeville shows. The theater flourished through the 1930's, 40's and the Great Depression.
In the 1960's it was sold and its features were first run movies. The theater closed in 1982.
It was later given to the Ironwood Development group and volunteers have been and are conducting renovations on the theater. It's features include a Barton organ and a mural ceiling.
Today, live acts and shows are featured.
