From the Milford Historical Society:

The granite exterior of this impressive building was done in 1878. The granite was from Milford and the roof slate from quarries in Maine. Ten years later the interior was completed and the building dedicated.

The red granite building is an imposing edifice in this small community built along the banks of the Souhegan River. Milford was actually known as the "Granite City" for many years due to the many local quarries. This church now serves as home to the Unitarian Universalist congregation.
