Buste de marbre blanc uni, taillé, poli. Dimensions hauteur = 73 ; largeur = 64 ; profondeur = 35.
Ce buste de Jules Gravereaux a été exécuté en 1914 par le sculpteur Carillon et donné en 1933 à la ville de l'Haÿ-les-Roses par le fils du modèle.
Le 29 mai 2010, à l'occasion de la fête de la rose à la Roseraie de l'Haÿ-les-Roses, le buste de Jules Gravereaux, fondateur de cette roseraie, a été inauguré lors d’une cérémonie officielle qui a réuni ses descendants.

Jules Gravereaux est né le 1er mai 1844 à Vitry-sur-Seine. Il commence en 1864 comme simple vendeur "Au Bon Marché" fondé par Aristide Boucicaut et sa femme.
Il y fera toute sa carrière acquérant des parts qui prendront de la valeur et constitueront la base de sa fortune. En 1888, alors qu'il n'a que quarante-quatre ans, il prend sa retraite.
En 1892, il achète une vaste propriété à L'Haÿ. Il y développe une collection de roses très importante.
En 1899, il contacte le fameux paysagiste Édouard André et ensemble, ils mettent au point le premier jardin de l'époque dédié aux roses, une roseraie.
En 1901, le ministère de l'Agriculture lui demande d'étudier la récolte des plants sauvages du genre Rosa et la production horticole et industrielle de roses à parfum.
Il est également à l'origine de la roseraie du Parc de Bagatelle ainsi que de celle de l'Élysée.
Il fut décoré de la Légion d'honneur et proclamé Commandeur du Mérite agricole pour avoir développé le goût des roseraies et le commerce des roses.
Jules Gravereaux décède à Paris le 23 mars 1916.

This Jules Gravereaux's bust was executed in 1914 by the sculptor Carillon and given in 1933 to the city of "l'Haÿ-les-Roses" by the son of the model.
On May 29th, 2010, on the occasion of the festival of the rose in the Rose garden of "l'Haÿ-les-Roses", Jules Gravereaux's bust, founder of this rose garden, was inaugurated during an official ceremony which gathered his descendants.

Jules Gravereaux was born on May 1st, 1844 to Vitry-sur-Seine. He begins in 1864 as simple salesman in "Au Bon Marché" established by Aristide Boucicaut and his wife.
He will make all his career there acquiring parts which will gain in value and will constitute the base of its fortune. In 1888, while he is only forty four years old, he retires.
In 1892, he buys a vast property from "L'Haÿ". He develops a very important collection of roses there.
In 1899, he contacts the famous landscape painter Édouard André and together, they finalize the first garden of time dedicated to the roses, a rose garden.
In 1901, the ministry of Agriculture asks him to study the harvest of the wild plantations of the genre horticultural Rosa and the production and manufacturer of roses with perfume.
He is also at the origin of the rose garden of the "Parc de Bagatelle" as well as that of the Élysée.
He was decorated with the Legion of Honour and proclaimed Commander of the agricultural Merit to have developed the taste of rose gardens and the business of the roses.
Jules Gravereaux dies in Paris on March 23rd, 1916.
