Historic downtown Gulfport Mississippi is coming back to life, and this is one of the many buildings that is being remodeled by the Mississippi Re-development Alliance. I don't know much about the old Hewes Bros. dry goods store, but the Hewes name is popular in town with a main avenue bearing the name and also a state senator with the Hewes name.
