Daniel Boone was born on November 2, 1734 in the small town of Bradninch, Devon, England. His family immigrated to Pennsylvania in 1713, to join William Penn's colony of dissenters. In 1775 he was hired by the Transylvania Company to blaze a trail from Fort Chiswell in Virginia through the
Cumberland Gap into central Kentucky. “Over 200,000 pioneers came over the
Wilderness Road, enduring severe hardships”. [source 3].
