The City of Chonburi is the capital of the Thai province of the same name on the Gulf of Thailand, ~100kms to the south east of Bangkok. One the beach, not too far from the government precinct, is a set of sharks on a traffic roundabout, welcoming visitors to the area.

The symbol of the Chonburi Provincial Administration Organisation (in gallery) is a shark, as is the symbol for the Chonburi Soccer Club (a game much appreciated in the Kingdom of Thailand). There is no information about the statue, but I can only assume that these symbols inspired this design. The Thai text on the sculpture is the name of the city 'Chonburi'.

In appearance, rather attractive and eye-catching on the beach. Two somewhat abstract sharks seemingly swimming in mid-air. A sense of motion is conveyed well. The sharks are maybe 3m long. Based on their unweathered condition I aver that the statue is of relatively recent construction.
