The first monument in a row of monuments in Court Square honors Springfield veterans. A granite stone has inscribed on it the image of an American eagle and shield. The eagle is facing right and has its wings spread. It is holding three arrows in its talons. Below are the names and dates of three wars. The monument is inscribed:
