Piazzolla and Ferrer created this Tango Opera together in 1968. Maria is a personification of Argentinian Tango and the piece is an allegory of ‘the fall of Buenos Aires musical soul and its renaissance’.
La Boca is a popular destination for tourists visiting Buenos Aires, with its colourful houses and pedestrian street, the Caminito, where tango artists perform. Other attractions include the La Ribera theatre, many tango clubs and Italian taverns.
