This 1690 bronze sculpture entitled La Seine depicts a bearded naked man laying down. A cloth casually drapes his privates. He wears a laurel and is interacting with a cherub. He holds an itme which may be a musical instrument. A basket of fruit and flowers is by his side. Water flows out of a basin below his right arm. The title indicates that this figure represents the River Seine...the river that flows through Paris. There are similar works nearby representing other important rivers in France.
The artists are Balthasar Keller (1638-1702) and Etienne Le Hongre (1628-1690).
