L'Air - Versailles, France - Figurative Public Sculpture on Waymarking.com

This 1684 marble sculpture depicts a barebreasted woman with a cloth she holds to her head and covering her waist. The wind seems to be fairly strong. She looks into the distance while an eaglestands at her feet and looks toward her face.
The work is entitled "L'Air". The artist, Etienne Le Hongre (1628-1690), provided many of the bas reliefs and other works here and at the Louvre. Read more about him at (visit link)
